Chained Dog Dies From His Injuries Days After He Is Rescued

Chained dogs in Greece are like the stars in the sky, just too many. There are no official statistics, but judging from experience, one out of two “pet” dogs in Greece spends its entire life chained, and dies without ever being exercised, socialized, or even petted. One of those dogs was Lefteris, which is Greek for “free.” At least that’s what SPAZ, the charity that rescued him called him. Elderly Cat Abandoned At 17 Is Given A Home To Spend Her Final Years

Elderly cats, like elderly dogs (and people) need all the love and support they can get. Sometimes, apart from various health issues, ageing can increase their anxiety and tendency to react aggressively. It can also change their social relationships with their owner and other pets in the house. Cinnamon is one very old cat. In fact, she is 17 years old and was thrown out of her home a few months ago. Imagine having to deal with ageing, health deterioration and a new environment. Continue reading Elderly Cat Abandoned At 17 Is Given A Home To Spend Her Final Years

Hunting Dog Used For Breeding Now Is Loved More Than She Could Imagine

Hunting dogs suffer more than any other dogs in Greece. Spending their entire lives chained or locked up, they are rarely treated as pets, are abandoned once they get old, sick or even lost during hunting. Continue reading Hunting Dog Used For Breeding Now Is Loved More Than She Could Imagine

Shot, Run Over And Almost Paralyzed, This Cat’s Dreams Came True

Shot, run over by a car and found almost paralyzed, starving and in terrible condition, Frog’s recovery and adoption made us all cry happy tears. Frog’s story is as devastating and as sad as can be. Just another rescue cat found wandering around an urban area in southern Greece, dragging his hind leg, with a broken spine and severely malnourished. Who knows how long it would take him to simply give up on life. Continue reading Shot, Run Over And Almost Paralyzed, This Cat’s Dreams Came True

Volunteering In Animal Welfare – Things To Do

Volunteering in Animal Welfare, rescue groups and shelters can range from spending a couple of hours per week to having your whole life turned around. For some of us, volunteering became so additive that today, we basically are what we do. You might not have the time to do all that 24/7, but here’s what you could do. Robocat – Tiny Rescue Kitten Is The Funniest Baby Ever

Robocat is what we call him, because in rescue, the best thing you can do is stay positive and always look on the bright (and funny) side of things. Otherwise you risk ending up in a psyche word. What we see every day is just too much to handle. And when people ask how do we deal with it, the answer is not always easy to hear. We deal with it laughing. At least I do. I laugh a lot. Continue reading Robocat – Tiny Rescue Kitten Is The Funniest Baby Ever

Brutally Abused Since A Puppy, She Now Has A Family To Adore Her

Brutally abused and basically left to rot and die, Jade finally got the life she deserves. She now has a family to adore her and she seems to have forgotten all about her terrible past. Continue reading Brutally Abused Since A Puppy, She Now Has A Family To Adore Her

Purebred, Mix Breeds and Pariahs – When Nature Insists On Doing It Better

Purebred dogs come first in most people’s preferences when choosing a pet. I am not here to argue whether this is right or wrong. Actually I am. It is wrong in so many ways. Not because of what you might think – all the mix breed unwanted dogs living on the streets or piled up in shelters, but because basically, insisting on bringing more and more purebred puppies to the world, when nature disagrees, is borderline abuse. Continue reading Purebred, Mix Breeds and Pariahs – When Nature Insists On Doing It Better

Love – Greek Animal Charity Crowd Funding Campaign

Starved And Sick Pit Bull Rescued Too Late

Spirit’s rescue

Starved, sick -very sick actually, partially blind and abandoned, Spirit was rescued literally at the last minute. He was spotted by a woman near one of Athens’ richest areas, Glyfada, who posted two photos of him on Facebook, begging for help. According to her, the dog’s owner’s kept him tied 24/7, until they left for their summer vacation, and decided to let him loose. Their future plans were to put him to sleep, once they got back, so that “he wouldn’t suffer”. Continue reading Starved And Sick Pit Bull Rescued Too Late
