Pure strays, rescued from the streets of Greece, abandoned, unwanted, and yet most of them purebred and gorgeous. Personally, I am a huge mix breed fan and always will be, they are the most unwanted and my priority when it comes to rescue. But every time a Siberian Husky or a Shar Pei is found wandering the streets abandoned and confused, I can’t help but wonder: How is it possible? Why abandon it? It could have found a new home in no time. Continue reading Pure Strays – 15 Gorgeous Dogs Rescued From The Streets
Owner = a person who owns; legal possessor. Dog owner = responsibility, patience, sacrifice, love etc. Dog owner (in this case) = someone take care of my problem. As sad, disgusting, and awful as it sounds, it did not just happen once. In Greece it happens every day, and in this case the “owner” was considerate enough to leave a note. Blind, sick and alone, Renata had to survive on the streets for who know how long. She was spotted and rescued by a SCARS volunteer, and has been in foster care for months, undergoing treatment.
Blind cats are everywhere in the streets. You just have to look close enough, and you will see eye problems in many of them. Many kittens are born blind, and if they are not rescued on time, they only have to face death once they are old enough to start “exploring” a world they don’t see. Respiratory and eye infections that cause blindness to cats are very common, and most kittens are born blind due to sexually transmitted diseases their mothers suffer from.
Respiratory and eye infections that cause blindness to cats are very common
Renata was not born blind – if she was, she wouldn’t have made it to puberty. She was blinded sometime when an adult. Respiratory and eye infections, if not treated, can easily cause blindness to a cat, and this is what probably happened to her.
Renata was spotted by a volunteer in a neighborhood of Athens, Greece and she was immediately removed and taken to foster care. Blind animals are always a priority, even more than sick or even pregnant ones. Spotting a blind stray animal is like watching a time bomb ready to go off. Their time is limited and if you risk leaving them there until you find a solution, they simply won’t be there the next time you pass by the same spot.
Renata was not just blind. She was in such terrible state that she had hours left to live. Starved and desperate, she literally got lucky at the last minute. The volunteer picked her up immediately, she was taken to the vet, examined and placed in foster care.

Renata’s respiratory infection was the cause of her blindness. She is still being treated every day, and she is already better. But her eyes, which are basically two open holes, affect her whole respiratory system, causing Renata to have trouble breathing. She still has to undergo eye surgery, and once her eyes are stitched closed, her condition will improve.

Renata enjoying her daily beauty treatment and her new life!
Brushing Renata is relaxing and therapeutical. Once she realizes that grooming is on, she completely surrenders and enjoys it as much as she can.
Renata is one thing: love. Pure unconditional love. I adore her, everyone does. She is a very soft tempered cat, extremely affectionate and loving. She will simply lie on the floor and let you pet her for hours. She loves her new life, she is very grateful for everything she has now and she shows it. There’s one thing she adores most and this is having her daily grooming session. Brushing Renata is relaxing and therapeutical. Once she realizes that grooming is on, she completely surrenders and enjoys it as much as she can.
I adore her and want to see her in her forever home soon. She deserves the best. She can be an amazing companion – having her as a pet will fill your life with, love, serenity and beauty. She had been reserved but her adoption was cancelled, so she is looking for a home.
If you wish to adopt her please contact the charity at: email@example.com or message their Facebook page. You can also donate via PayPal at: firstname.lastname@example.org

Emaciated, sick, and desperate dogs are wondering almost every street of rural Greece. They are the ghosts that nobody cares about, and that everyone pretends they are not there. They just roam around, and the sicker they get, the more rejected they are. Eventually, after they are left untreated for too long, they end up looking like Mahi. And there is no place for dogs like Mahi in city centers or villages. If they survive poisoning, the more gruesome they are to look at, the more they are driven away, because people simply don’t want to look at them. Chained dogs in Greece are like the stars in the sky, just too many. There are no official statistics, but judging from experience, one out of two “pet” dogs in Greece spends its entire life chained, and dies without ever being exercised, socialized, or even petted. One of those dogs was Lefteris, which is Greek for “free.” At least that’s what SPAZ, the charity that rescued him called him. Elderly cats, like elderly dogs (and people) need all the love and support they can get. Sometimes, apart from various health issues, ageing can increase their anxiety and tendency to react aggressively. It can also change their social relationships with their owner and other pets in the house. Cinnamon is one very old cat. In fact, she is 17 years old and was thrown out of her home a few months ago. Imagine having to deal with ageing, health deterioration and a new environment. Continue reading Elderly Cat Abandoned At 17 Is Given A Home To Spend Her Final Years
