Neglected Dogs Dying Per Hundreds In Greek Public Shelters

Neglected, starved, forgotten, without food, water and proper veterinary care, dogs keep dying per hundreds in Greek concentration camps, that pretend to be “shelters” – legal shelters, since they are public.

Crimes Against Animals In Western Greece – A Letter To The Mayor

Crimes against animals in Greece are so frequent, that if I had to post about what happens here every day, I would just be spamming. But there is one particular area here in Greece, where horror stories keep popping up, and it is just too much.

Why I Did Not Keep The Dog That “Loved Me”

Why didn’t you keep him? He loved you … I get this question almost every time I post a video about a rescue or foster dog (ah! especially a foster dog) that was adopted. Today, I even woke up to find a comment in Christie’s video saying “she trusted you and you let her down!” WTF???

Man In Greece Hangs A Dog To Warn For Something Worse

Meh.. I don’t even know where to begin. If it were any other typical case of animal abuse, the photos would speak for themselves, but I don’t think it is.

Greek DA Defies The Animal Welfare Law Simply Because She Feels Like It

Greek animal welfare is like…what Rubik’s cube is to most people: it’s obvious that it can be done, and once you are almost there, a piece (of shit) comes along and spoils the whole structure, obliging you to take the whole thing apart again. Volunteering In Animal Welfare – Things To Do

Volunteering in Animal Welfare, rescue groups and shelters can range from spending a couple of hours per week to having your whole life turned around. For some of us, volunteering became so additive that today, we basically are what we do. You might not have the time to do all that 24/7, but here’s what you could do. Animal Lovers Run A Marathon To Raise Awareness

It was the first time I joined the Penny Marathon this year, but it definitely won’t be the last. I didn’t run, but next time I will. I didn’t have my Penny Marathon T-shirt on, but next time I will. I won’t be wasting your time trying to describe what the experience is like and what running for the animals feels like– the video covers all five hours of our journey, from the first meeting point to the finish line. I will just try to answer briefly any questions you might have. Continue reading Animal Lovers Run A Marathon To Raise Awareness

Penny Marathon – From Australia To Greece

I could say that the Penny Marathon is just another animal welfare non-profit organization, but it’s a lot more. The Penny Marathon is a chance for all of us to go out there once a year, among the public, and speak for all companion animals that keep waiting in shelter kennels or out on the streets – waiting for a chance. Once a year, instead of hiding behind heartbreaking Facebook posts and cries for help through online fundraising campaigns, we run a Marathon, wearing our Penny Marathon T-shirts, hoping to get the attention of people who might never had heard of what rescuing is actually about and might never had come across an animal welfare Facebook page or website. The Penny Marathon barely makes it to the eight o’clock news – but at least we make it to the streets, and that’s awesome. Continue reading Penny Marathon – From Australia To Greece

Killer Rottweilers On Death Row Up For Adoption

Killer Rottweilers are up for adoption by the public shelter that took them in about a month ago, after two of them attacked and killed a five year old boy. The incident happened on May 1, Easter day in Greece. The boy and his family were visiting a friend’s house, the boy was left unattended for a while, and a few minutes later he was beaten to death by two out of the eight dogs that lived in the property. The owner was arrested, all eight dogs were removed from him, were placed in a public shelter and were given less than a month to be adopted until they are put down. The deadline is in two days, May 25. Continue reading Killer Rottweilers On Death Row Up For Adoption
