Photo editor can be a big help in Animal Welfare. I use it a lot. I never photoshop, but adding a couple of funny quotes in a rescue dog’s or cat’s photos always helps the post perform a lot better. However, in Chino’s case, not photoshop, no editing, and no quotes were needed.
I am not here to talk about numbers – I don’t know the numbers anyway. I know that the number of abandoned dogs in Greece is ridiculously high – just one more reason to be ashamed of a country we were taught to be proud of. Another thing that a lot of people don’t know is that in Greece there are no shelters where you can just walk into and leave the dog you don’t want anymore. It was the first time I joined the Penny Marathon this year, but it definitely won’t be the last. I didn’t run, but next time I will. I didn’t have my Penny Marathon T-shirt on, but next time I will. I won’t be wasting your time trying to describe what the experience is like and what running for the animals feels like– the video covers all five hours of our journey, from the first meeting point to the finish line. I will just try to answer briefly any questions you might have. Continue reading Animal Lovers Run A Marathon To Raise Awareness
What is a sick rescue puppy, it’s rescuers and a camera doing in the City Hall? Well, here’s the thing: Greece is most definitely corrupt, beaurocratic and nerve-racking. Every single day we have to fight for what should be taken for granted in any civilized country out there. Citizens keep being disappointed as the systems keeps us trapped in a vicious circle we can’t escape from. Continue reading Rescuers Burst Into City Hall With Rescue Puppy
I could say that the Penny Marathon is just another animal welfare non-profit organization, but it’s a lot more. The Penny Marathon is a chance for all of us to go out there once a year, among the public, and speak for all companion animals that keep waiting in shelter kennels or out on the streets – waiting for a chance. Once a year, instead of hiding behind heartbreaking Facebook posts and cries for help through online fundraising campaigns, we run a Marathon, wearing our Penny Marathon T-shirts, hoping to get the attention of people who might never had heard of what rescuing is actually about and might never had come across an animal welfare Facebook page or website. The Penny Marathon barely makes it to the eight o’clock news – but at least we make it to the streets, and that’s awesome. Continue reading Penny Marathon – From Australia To Greece
All of us were introduced to the animal welfare world in different ways. I, for example, had no idea about what was really going on. One day I found an abandoned dog right outside my house, took him home and the rest came pretty easy. I never had to worry about what my first step would be, what I should do or how I should handle it. I posted his photo on the facebook page of the charity in my area, and the next day he was vaccinated and scheduled to be checked out and then neutered.
