Running For A Cause – Penny Marathon 2017

I could say that the Penny Marathon is just another animal welfare non-profit organization, but it’s a lot more. The Penny Marathon is a chance for all of us to go out there once a year, among the public, and speak for all companion animals that keep waiting in shelter kennels or out on the streets – waiting for a chance.

24 Hours In A Dog Rescuer’s Life

24 hours, provided that we don’t sleep. If we sleep, we are left with about 16 hours. 16 hours, provided that we don’t have a job. If we have a job, we are left with 8 hours. 8 hours, provided that we don’t have a personal life. If we have a personal life (a husband, kids, a boyfriend, a hobby, our own pets to take care of), we are left with as many hours as we decide to dedicate to rescue. Rescue Dog Accompanies His Owners While They Feed The Strays

Rescue is so many things, that if you start explaining what it’s all about, you can go on forever and ever. From removing strays from the streets and fostering them, to TNRing and feeding them, rescue comes in so many forms, that if you truly want to help, you can definitely find a way that fits your lifestyle. Volunteering In Animal Welfare – Things To Do

Volunteering in Animal Welfare, rescue groups and shelters can range from spending a couple of hours per week to having your whole life turned around. For some of us, volunteering became so additive that today, we basically are what we do. You might not have the time to do all that 24/7, but here’s what you could do. Kitten Abandoned On The Street – Someone Do Something

“Someone do something” – I thought it would be more than obvious from the title that it is an awareness video. I had the script ready for quite some time and we were just looking for the right kitten and the right opportunity to come along – it had to be a calm kitten that we could place in a box somewhere and be sure that he would not run off or do anything to hurt itself. Dog Adoption And Common Misundersandings

Dog adoption. It sounds nice, but for most of us it’s a headache. Choosing the right family is one big challenge and we face it every day. Many people didn’t really like this video. I’m guessing they were offended, so I think I should make some things clear. First of all, we almost never talk to people this way – at least I don’t. Do we have these thoughts? Yes we do. But if things are going to change some day, we are the ones who need to help the public see things in a different perspective, so we try our best to be polite. Fostering Dogs – Why We Have To Let Go

Fostering dogs has become a part of my life. About a year ago, March 24 2015, I came back from the airport crying. Crying a mixture of happy and ego tears. I have fostered many dogs, and loved them all as if they were mine, but if I had to choose the one that had the biggest impact on me, that would be Billy – and that day I said my goodbyes at the airport, and let him go.  It was my hardest farewell so far – not that any goodbye has ever been easy. The Dog Shelter – Where Dreams Hatch Back to Life

I had been following the Save a Greek Stray Facebook page for a couple of years. I used to volunteer at another organization, but the SGS posts were so jaw dropping that every time a new photo made it’s way to my facebook wall I couldn’t help but thinking: “oh, if only I was there, if only there was something for me to do there”. You know that feeling when you’re in a pretty stable relationship but every time you bump into the gorgeous neighbor you get butterflies? That was me and the gorgeous neighbor was the Save a Greek Stray. And the first time I knew I was in love, was when Petra’s first photo was posted. I fell in love with her, and she made me fall in love with the SGS.
