Puppy Thrown Off A Cliff In A Plastic Bag Rescued By Climber In Kefalonia, Greece

This three month old puppy was rescued in Kefalonia, in Greece. One of the most touristic islands of the country, advertised as a paradise I am sure by touristic agencies around the world, for its crystal clear waters and its green mountains and its expensive resorts.

And as every other place like this one in Greece, behind that fake facade of a heaven on earth lies an ugly truth. Don’t get me wrong, not everyone in Greece is evil. But the problem is that the ones who are, are usually doing what they are doing with impunity.

The puppy was discovered by Kostas, who is the owner of Wild Nature Expeditions, that organizes outdoor activities and tours in the island. As he was passing by the ravine in Poulata, a horrible smell coming from the bottom made them stop and look.

As it is common here, a shepherd had used the ravine a garbage dump, throwing off the cliff corpses of dead livestock, sheep wool, bags of trash and all sorts of waste, contaminating the ravine that smelled of death and decay.

As is this was not enough, while Kostas was looking down, he heard a puppy cry. And in Greece, when you hear a puppy cry, surrounded by a similar scenery, it can only be one thing. As it turns out, apart from the corpses and the trash, a three month old puppy had been thrown down the cliff as well, sealed in a plastic bag.

The red plastic bag is where Teo was

It had survived the  50 meter fall, and was just waiting there to die of suffocation. Can you imagine that? Can you imagine that a person who still lives among us did such a thing? Can you imagine that this is not a one time thing, but a common practice here in Greece?

The rescuer climbed down and saved the little one, who was named Teo, and is surprisingly in good health. The video where he actually opens the bag and takes a look inside is a very rescuers nightmare. Not for the ones that are rescued, but for all the other like him who died this way, sealed in plastic bags, among trash and corpses and the smell of death.

The original post of the rescuer is title “Death to humanity”. Can you blame him? The fires that destroyed forests and homes and took many innocent lives a few days ago here filled the internet with “pray for Greece” pleas. Oh but there is no reason to pray, n o reason at all. Nothing can save us here. Nothing at all.
